Car goes missing in Sunkoshi river



SINDHULI: A car has gone missing after plunging into the Sunkoshi River near Nawalpurghat along the Mid-Hill Highway in Phikkal Rural Municipality-2 of Sindhuli.

The car (Province 3-01-24 Cha 9573) fell into the river after being struck by a passenger bus (Ba 08-001 Kha 0144) while it was parked on the roadside. Following the collision at around 11:30 am today, the car plunged about 50 meters down the slope into the river.

Locals Dil Bahadur Tamang and Ganesh Thapa were inside the car, according to Golonjor Rural Municipality-2 Ward Chair Som Prasad Baral, who spoke to RSS from the accident site.

A third person is also believed to have been in the vehicle. Rescue efforts are underway with the participation of local residents, the Armed Police Force, and Nepal Police.
