COVID-19 kills 14, 613 globally as 1,600 die in a single day



KATHMANDU: With the coronavirus gaining its foothold on every continent except for Antarctica, the novel virus has claimed 14, 613 as of Monday morning.

As many as 1,600 people have died of coronavirus in the last 24 hours across the world.

Italy has recorded 651 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking total death toll of the country to 5,476, while 59, 138 have been infected.

Meanwhile, a total of 114 people have died in the last 24 hours in America, taking the total to 415.

Likewise, 97, 637 out of 335, 511 infected with the COVID-19 have been have recovered after treatment.

With the COVID-19 infection increasing in an alarming rate, Germany has barred public gatherings of more than two people.

Meanwhile, Chancellor Angela Merkel has asked the people to maintain distance between them, urging them to assemble in a group of more than two people, according to BBC.

Similarly, America has warned that essential goods including ventilators will last for only 10 days in New York.

“New York City will run out of essential surgical goods including ventilators in 10 days,” warned New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio, adding,  “The number of deaths will go up drastically if the surgical items are not supplied immediately”, BBC quoted.
