Nepali woman becomes captain in British Gurkha Army

LONDON: A Nepali woman has attained a high-level position in the British Gurkha Army, probably for the first time in history.

A 27-year-old dentist Anshu Gurung, the daughter of former British Gurkah Army, has become a captain in the British Gurkha Army.

Anshu is the youngest daughter of former British Gurkha Color Sergeant Amar Gurung and mother Suku Gurung, the chairman of Bhumdikot Society, UK.

Originally from Pokhara Metropolitan City-22, Bhumdi, the Gurung family has been staying in Farnborough, UK, currently.

Anshu has completed a 10-week training from Royal Military Academy Standhurst, according to Yogesh Gurung, Vice Chairman of South East Regional Tamu Dhin and advisor of Tamu Dhin, UK.

She was conferred with an insignia of captain on Saturday.

She had joined the British Gurkah Army after completing her dental studies from Queen Mary University last years.
