Dr. Govinda KC’s condition worsens as talks with government continue

KATHMANDU: The health condition of hunger-striking Dr. Govinda KC has become more critical, according to Seti Provincial Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment.

Dr. KC, who began his hunger strike in Dhangadhi on Thursday, remains under close medical observation after being admitted to the hospital as his condition deteriorated.

A four-member medical team has been monitoring his health around the clock. The hospital said Dr. KC has refused to take glucose-raising medication and intravenous fluids despite repeated medical advice.

“His health is becoming increasingly complicated due to his long-standing diabetes and advanced age,” the hospital said in a statement.

A government delegation traveled to Dhangadhi on Saturday to hold talks with Dr. KC over his demands and met him on Sunday. However, the two sides have yet to reach an agreement.

Meanwhile, sources at the Ministry of Education said negotiations are progressing and are close to a settlement.
