KATHMANDU: The Sajha Party has said its attention was drawn towards the incident of misbehavior towards COVID-19 infected health workers in various places of the country including Kathmandu Valley.
In a press statement issued by Sajha Party here today, it has denounced the ill-treatment by the neighbours against the infected health workers who were undergoing treatment in isolation facilities.
Cases of stigmatization of the COVID-19 infected ones have been rife in the country lately as the COVID-19 caseload soars to 31,117 and 146 causalities as of August 22 The locals in those places were reported to have feared the spread of flu-like infection and thereby said to have shunned the infected health workers and wanted to drive those health workers away from their settlement.
The political party has said that it was inhumane and criminal to mistreat the infected health workers who were serving the patients tirelessly at the time of pandemic like this.
The statement issued by deputy spokesperson Sharadraj Pathak called for sensitivity and cooperation at this health crisis and urged the public to motivate the health workers who were working in the forefront to help prevent and control the COVID-19 as well as to treat the infected ones.
The party has also demanded action against those involved in such an inhumane act of misbehaving the health workers.
It has drawn the attention of one and all to enable safe and favorable environment for the health workers.
