Ex-lawmaker Shah donates health materials worth Rs 10 million to Karnali Province



SURKEHT: Former lawmaker and social worker Rajeev Bikram Shah has donated health materials worth Rs10 million to the Karnali Province government to fight against the coronavirus pandemic in the province.

Former lawmaker from Jajarkot has handed over the health materials worth Rs 10 million to the in charge of Provincial Hospital Dr. Dammar Khadka.

He has sent necessary health materials to the district hospitals of 8 districts of Karnali province. His donation includes 5 ICU beds, ECG machines, patient monitors worth 8 million for the province hospital.

He has also provided health materials worth Rs 300 thousand each of the district hospitals in Karnali region. The materials provided to district hospitals include patient monitor, oxygen concentrator, ecg machine, patient trolley, nebulizer etc.

Chief Minister of the Province, Mahendra Bahadur Shahi applauded the biggest ever donation the province received from the private sector and thanked social worker Shah for providing the most needed materials to combat the crisis.

“We appreciate Shah’s donation of the health materials at this most needed hour,” Chief Minister Shahi said, “together we can combat an effective battle against the coronavirus pandemic.”

Former lawmaker Shah said that his efforts of helping the geographically challenging province had been materialized through the help of Kumari Rana Trust. Shah is the President of the trust.

According to the sources, Late Prabhakar Shumsher Rana’s daughter Maya Rana had facilitated the donation.

The Karnali Province sources claim there are more than 80,000 people working in India from there. The government is planning to rescue 20,000 people first.

The area bordering with India is hard-hit from the cases from the returnees from India.
