NPL champions to receive Rs. 15 million in prize money

KATHMANDU: The winners of the third edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) will receive Rs. 15 million in prize money, an increase of Rs. 4 million from the previous edition.

The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) announced the revised prize money at a press conference in Kathmandu on Sunday.

According to CAN Treasurer Padam Bahadur Khadka, the runners-up will receive Rs. 8 million, while the teams finishing third and fourth will take home Rs. 4 million and Rs. 3 million, respectively. In the previous edition, Lumbini Lions received Rs. 11 million after winning the title.

CAN expressed confidence that the increased prize money would enhance the tournament’s competitiveness and commercial appeal. The third edition of the NPL is scheduled to begin on Monday at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, with eight teams competing for the title. The NPL is an annual franchise-based T20 cricket tournament that has been held since 2024.
