RANJHA: Nepali Congress leader Shekhar Koirala has said the general convention is imperative to enliven the NC.

“NC dogged with groups and factions must be rescued through the general convention,” he stressed at a press meet organized by Nepal Press Union, Banke chapter in Nepalgunj today.

The NC central working committee member urged all leaders and cadres to launch the campaign in the party to free it of groups at least from the coming 14th general convention.

Leader Koirala argued that monarchy would not be restored in the country. “We are determined to move ahead with the thoughts of BP Koirala on nationalism, democracy and socialism,” he reminded.

Moreover, he viewed Nepal is reeling under a series of crises. The country may face a severe crisis with the corruption thriving and democracy deteriorating.

According to him, the Cabinet ministers’ indulgence in corruption was wrong. It must be probed fairly, he stressed.

He added that Prime Minister KP Oli must resign as one of his Cabinet minister has been involved in the corruption scandal.
