SINDHUPALCHOK: Efforts have begun to relocate the people displaced by the Lidi landslide that occurred nine days ago at Lamagaun of Lidi in Jugal rural municipality-2 in the district, said the rural municipality.
In the first phase, all victims will be put in tents at Selang of the rural municipality-1, said the ward chair Hom Narayan Shrestha, adding that for that necessary equipment like tents have been supplied. As per agreement for the district disaster management committee to supply tents, 98 tents have been handed to the rural municipality, he said.
Under the relocation process, labeling the lands, tents management and road construction will be done, it has been said. The district implementation unit will manage housing, the division drinking water office drinking water and the district health office health service.
Likewise, the district Red Cross manages the toilet facilities. Recently, a team including the State Assemblymember Saresh Nepal and former lawmaker Subas Karmacharya inspected the disaster site and took stock of the situation of the victims.
On coming Sunday, a team of Nepali Army, Armed Police Force and civil police will set up tents and manage security at the site, said Shrestha. Bodies of 32 people were retrieved from the site and seven others are still missing in the landslip.
