KATHMANDU: A total of 634 new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in the last 24 hours, including 216 in Kathmandu Valley.
With the new cases, Nepal’s coronavirus tally has reached 31,117.
The new infections include 452 men and 182 women in the 12,519 sample tests carried out in laboratories across the country, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.
So far, 592,418 samples have been tested through the PCR method for the coronavirus, said Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor Gautam at the routine daily press meet on Saturday afternoon.
According to him, one from Ilam, 17 from Jhapa, three from Bhojpur, 52 from Morang, one from Sankhuwasabha and 31 from Sunsari have been diagnosed positive.
Similarly, reports of three from Dhanusha, 59 from Parsa, 10 from Bara, one from Mahottari, two from Rautahat, three from Saptari, one from Sarlahi and 35 from Siraha have coronavirus positive.
According to Dr. Gautam, 160 from Kathmandu, three from Kavre, 27 from Chitwan, four from Dolakha, two from Dhading, two from Nuwakot, 50 from Bhaktapur, six from Lalitpur and one from Sindhuli have been found infected.
The infection has been confirmed in 16 people from Kaski, two from Tanahun, three from Nawalparasi East, one from Baglung and one from Syangja.
Similarly, 15 from Kapilvastu, three from Nawalparasi, one from Palpa, one from Pyuthan, seven from Bardiya, 28 from Banke, 23 from Rupandehi and one from Rolpa have been found positive.
Two people from Jumla, six from Salyan and two from Surkhet have been confirmed to have contracted the coronavirus.
Similarly, the infection has been confirmed in 14 people from Kailali, one from Dadeldhura and one from Doti in Sudurpaschim Province.
Meanwhile, 136 people were discharged after recovering from the virus in various isolation centers today. With this, the total number of recovery has reached 18,350.
A total of 11,658 people are still in quarantine with 12,621 active cases. Among the infected, 8,705 are in institutional isolation while 3,916 are in home-based isolation.
Meanwhile, nine more people died of COVID-19 today, taking the death toll to 146 in the country.
