Air quality measurement centre in operation

KANCHANPUR: An air quality measurement center has been set up and operated in Bhimduttanagar of Kanchanpur. The center established at the cost of Rs 10 million is devised with solar panels used for measuring air quality, container and display board.

According to the chief of Department of Environment Ganesh Thagunna, the center would measure stained water droplets and toxic air pollutants below 2.5 micrometer. He further said the center would provide information about the status of pollution in the city area. “Through the display board one can obtain the information about air quality across the country”.

The equipment devised in the center would help know about humidity, temperature, speed and direction of the air. It is considered to be good air quality when the indicator of air quality index comes below 50 while it is deemed safe when the index is in between 51-100.

The more the indicator goes up the riskier it would be for human health. If the index exceeds 300 it is considered to have higher risk to human health.

According to him, the air quality of Bhimduttanagar city area is safer. RSS
