TIA mulling over limiting number of flights

15 international and 30-40 domestic flights to take place in a day

KATHMANDU: With the government’s decision to resume international flights stalled since March from August 17, the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) is preparing to arrange for 15 international flights per day.

According to TIA sources, the management has concluded that owing to the time and space required for the arrival and departure, they are planning to arrange for 15 international flights per day from August 17 onward.

“The government has decided to resume all domestic and international flights from August 17 onward,” Devendra KC, the Chief of TIA said, “Keeping up with the safety and security standards set by the government, we are mulling over confining international flights to 15 in a day.”

However, he added that the formal decision is not made on it.

Similarly, regarding the domestic flights, TIA sources estimate that 30-40 flights are possible from TIA each day.

According to KC, to ensure safety measures, passengers may require to reach at the airport 4 hours prior to the flight. Earlier, the passengers were required to reach at the airport 3 hours before their flight.
