KATHMANDU: A Standing Committee (SC) meeting of ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has started to thrash out intra-party differences at Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar.
Standing Committee member Dev Gurung informed that the meeting is underway without the presence of Prime Minister KP Oli.
The SC meeting which was earlier scheduled to be held at 11 am had been postponed for two hours.
Dahal-Nepal camp has been demanding resignation of Prime Minister KP Oli from both of his posts while the latter is adamant not to resign from any of his posts.
The SC meeting which started since July 24 has been hit after the Prime Minister’s resignation was chosen as the main agenda of the meeting.
NCP chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Prime Minister who held one-on-one meetings have not been able to reach consensus.
Both Oli and Dahal have intensified meetings with the leaders of their camp of late.
On July 18, Oli in the NCP Secretariat meeting had proposed to hold the general convention of the party in November. The meeting is also likely to discuss the issue today.
