Landslide claims 2 lives in Darchula



KAILALI: Two siblings have died buried under the recent landslide induced by the incessant downpour in Malikarjun Rural Municipality -8, Shankarpur, Darchula on Tuesday.

According to SSP Mukesh Kumar Singh, the spokesperson of Sudurpaschim Province Police, Dipayal, Arjun Darji 25 and Milan Darji 22 have died buried in the house damaged by the landslide in Malikarjun-8, Shankarpur. Three more are injured in the incident.

“Arjun Darji, 25, and his sibling Milan Darji, 22, of Lekam-5, have died in the landslide leaving Laxmi Dholi the landlord, her 9-year-old son Shubham and 14-year-old daughter injured in the rain induced landslide at around 3 am on Tuesday morning,” SSP Singh said offering the details of the incident.

According to him, the police and the locals are striving to clear the debris and are preparing to send the injured to the hospital by helicopter.
