Dr Khatiwada entrusted to lead Ministry of Communication

KATHMANDU: Finance Minister Dr Yuvraj Khatiwada has been entrusted with the responsibility to look after the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology.

President Bidhya Devi Bhandari appointed Dr Khatiwada as the Minister for Communication on the recommendation of Prime Minister K P Oli on Thursday.

The ministry was lying vacant after Minister for Communication Gokul Baskota tendered his resignation on Thursday itself.

Baskota had stepped down following a leaked audio recording of a conversation between him and a Swiss Company local agent Bijaya Prakash Mishra in which Baskota is heard of bargaining for Rs 700 million in bribe over procurement of security printing press for the government.

Likewise, Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Basanta Kumar Nemwang has been given the responsibility of Rural Development Ministry. Baskota was looking after the Rural Development Ministry.
