KATHMANDU: Minister for Home Affairs, Ram Bahadur Thapa today said lack of a specific law has barred the government from taking action against Nepal Red Cross Society despite its involvement in irregularities.

Speaking at the House of Representatives’ State Affairs and Good Governance Committee today, Home Minister Thapa even said that the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) did not investigate the Society’s involvement in irregularities as it did not come under its jurisdiction.

The Committee, however, instructed the government to bring the Nepal Red Cross Society to the ambit of the law.
