NCP’s upcoming CC meeting unlikely!

KATHMANDU: The ruling Nepal Communist Party has summoned its Central Committee (CC) meeting from October 31 to November 2.

But, the CC meeting amid the spread of the pandemic coronavirus infection is sure to witness challenges as more than 2,000 new cases of the virus are reported in the Kathmandu Valley lately.

Earlier, the party’s Standing Committee meeting had decided to summon the CC meeting, reshuffle the council of ministers by resolving the intra-party feuds and go for the general convention of unity. The upcoming CC meeting is going to be held as per the same decision.

However, it is still uncertain if the CC meeting will be hold.

NCP Central Office’s secretary Ishwori Rijal said that conducting meeting under the present circumstance is difficult though preparations were made.  “The leaders are moving ahead as per the mandate of the SC meeting. The CC meeting is scheduled accordingly,” Rijal said.

Rijal, however, said that it may be tough to conduct the meeting as the cases of the virus are increasing across the country including in the valley.  At least 3,000 human resources are needed to manage the meeting that will have the presence of 447 CC members.

“The meeting is not postponed. The top leaders are thinking of a virtual meeting. It will be finalized after analyzing the situation,” according to Rijal.

Meanwhile, SC member Mani Thapa said that formal information about the meeting is not received yet.

Similarly, CC member Bishnu Rijal said that he was assured of the meeting as scheduled since no information was received about the meeting postponement.
