NC draws govt’s attention to problems of general people due to prohibition

KATHMANDU: The main opposition Nepali Congress has drawn the attention of the government to problems of general people due to lockdown and prohibition across the country.

It has demanded a solution to the problems.

Workers, students, unemployed youths, single women and people with disabilities have suffered the most and it is the responsibility of the state to seek a solution to the problems, NC said in a statement issued on Thursday by party spokesperson Bishwo Prakash Sharma.

“Day-to-day life of the people has been affected by a prohibitory order in the Kathmandu Valley and some other places across the country. However, people have supported the government to fight COVID-19. NC despite being in opposition stays with the government to battle the infection and appeals to the government and people for having patience and unity in this time of crisis,” read the statement.

The government should make use of this lockdown and prohibition period effectively to prevent and control the virus by taking this period as only a defensive strategy and learning from the past experiences, said NC, referring to 120 days long nationwide lockdown in the past in a bid to fight the infection.

NC also appreciated those working on the front line during this crisis including security personnel, health workers and journalists.
