Over 107 killed in flood, landslides in Assam



GUWAHATI: As many as 107 people have been killed in flood and landslides in the Indian state of Assam so far.

While 81 people died in flood-related incidents, 26 lost their lives in landslides, taking the total number of people killed to 107, according to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority.

Meanwhile, as many as 47,465 people are taking shelter at about 290 relief camps in the state, Indian media reports said.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has, meanwhile, assured support to Assam to deal with the havoc.

PM Modi spoke with Assam’s Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and expressed solidarity with the people of the state.

Modi inquired about the coronavirus scenario with Sonowal.
