Difficulties in management of 12 Nepalis’ dead bodies in USA



KATHMANDU: The management of 12 dead bodies of Nepalis lying in the mortuaries in the USA has become really difficult for various reasons.

With stay-at-home orders and flight cancellation in place, the management of 12 dead bodies of Nepalis lying in the mortuary of various hospitals in the USA has become challenging.

The dead body of a Nepali from Mustang, who had been living in New York for more than a decade, is lying unclaimed in hospital since the first week of April.

The dead body of another Nepali from Kathmandu is also lying unclaimed for more than 10 days.

Another Nepali from with Rai surname living in a shelter made for the homeless is also dead for many days and his body is lying untaken for.

The embassy is trying to coordinate in the management of 6 dead bodies of Nepalis in Maryland.

But the state provision of Maryland which has the presence of the deceased relative mandatory for cremation has made it difficult.
