Parliamentary Committee issues 10-point directives to govt



KATHMANDU: The Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee under the House of the Representatives (HoR) on Thursday issued a 10-point directive to the government to prevent possible infection of COVID-19.

A meeting of the committee held today issued the directives including making arrangements of ICU and isolation ward at health institutions across the country as per the population density, providing medical equipment to test coronavirus and making arrangements to stock medicines.

Likewise, making ICU and isolation units to prevent coronavirus infection by maintaining necessary coordination among government, community and private hospitals, making arrangements to test COVID-19 infection and to carry out its treatment in all seven states are other directives.

The 10-point directive also includes paying special attention to the safety of doctors by increasing their morale to fight against COVID-19 by forming a medical specialist group in every health institution.

The meeting also directed the government to launch a public awareness program immediately through media across the nation by soliciting management aspects of China in dealing with COVID-19.

The Committee also asked the Home and Industry and Commerce Ministries to stop black marketing of different goods including daily essentials.

Welcoming the unity of political parties during the disaster, the committee asked the political parties to run campaigns through sister organizations up to the ward levels of local levels to prevent possible infection of coronavirus.

Similarly, the 10-point directives also include providing security to all citizens at prisons, orphanages and child homes.

Briefing about the 10-point directives, Committee President Krishna Bhakta Pokharel urged the media to disseminate and publish fact and truth-based news related to COVID-19.
