Prachanda, Nepal discuss at Khumaltar ahead of Standing Committee meeting

KATHMANDU: Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda is holding talks with party leaders close to him at his residence in Khumaltar on Sunday.

Senior leaders Madhav Kumar Nepal, Jhalanath Khanal and Secretariat Member Narayankaji Shrestha among other leaders are present at the meeting, it is learned.

The meeting comes on the heels of reports that NCP Chairman duo KP Oli and Prachanda have agreed to holding General Convention of the party in November-December.

Leader Nepal has vehemently expressed his dissatisfaction with the so-called agreement reached on Saturday, while Prachanda’s Secretariat has said that no consensus has been reached despite discussions on the issue.

During the Secretariat meeting held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar on Saturday afternoon, PM KP Oli had floated a proposal of holding the convention in November-December.

The proposal from the prime minister came at the time when he is under immense pressure to resign both as Prime Minister and party Chairman.

Sources said another Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda also agreed with the proposal.

Meanwhile, the Standing Committee meeting of the party that has been postponed over and again has been slated for 3 pm afternoon.
