Sri Lanka announces relief to COVID-19 ridden business



COLOMBO: As a measure to counter the economic threats set by the overriding COVID-19, the Sri Lankan government has come out with the relief package to the COVID-ridden public and market.

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa instructed banks and financial institutions to offer a six month grace period for loans obtained by business enterprises and provide working capital for loans at 4 percent.

He ordered the officials to regulate the market strictly so as not to let the black market sting the people.

President Rajapaksa also asked the officials to ensure a maximum retail price of Rs. 65 per kg for dal and Rs.100 for canned fish from Tuesday night. He has promised to come with further concessions in the future.
