BANKE: Nepali and Indian authorities have agreed to bar entry without medical verification to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus.

The decision to this effect has been taken following a discussion between a team led by Chief District Officer of Banke Kumar Bahadur Khadka and the Indian team led by the District Magistrate, Shambhu Kumar of the Bahraich district of India.

The meeting held in Nepalgunj decided to carry out a mandatory health examination for a person leaving Nepal to enter India and vice-versa.

Likewise, help desks with health personnel have also been set up on both sides of the entry point to screen travelers, CDO Khadka said.

Local people have also been urged to stop unnecessary travel across the border.

Shambhu Kumar, however, said that the border crossing would not be closed.

Passenger buses on the Nepalgunj-Delhi, Nepalgunj-Himanchal, and Dang-Delhi have been halted.
