Fraudster lands in police net

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested a man on the charge of defrauding foreign job aspirants of Rs 10 million by promising them visas to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The arrested has been identified as 38-year-old Shiva Kumar Gharti of Khunga of Dhorpatan Municipality-4, Baglung.

Gharti had taken Rs 1,053,000 from nine individuals by assuring them that he would send them to the UAE.

The victims had filed a case against Gharti at Metropolitan Police Crime Division, Kathmandu after they did not get visas for a long time.

Acting on a complaint lodged by the youths, an MPCD team arrested him from Gongabu chowk.

Police said they are investigating the case after taking Gharti into custody.
