KATHMANDU: District Administration, Kavre has clamped an indefinite curfew on Panauti of the district effective from 9 am.
Tension flared in Panauti after two persons died after being hit by a tipper on Monday.
Five persons including police constable Dilip Budhathoki sustained injuries in a clash between protestors and security personnel that ensued after an unknown person from the crowd opened fired on him.
Police opened fire and lobbed tear gas shells to take the situation under control. Meanwhile, the irate locals set a police post on fire.
Irate locals gathering since early morning have not allowed to operate tippers.
Junimaya Gole, 27, and her child were seriously injured when they were hit by the tripper, Ba 5 Kha 5480. They died while undergoing treatment at Scheer Memorial Hospital.
Police have arrested driver Nawaraj Thapa of Rosi Rural Municipality-6 and started an investigation into the incident.
