These two reasons why Mahara was acquitted

KATHMANDU: Former Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara returned home on Monday after 103 days of judicial custody in Dillibazar Jail for attempted rape.

His release was possible after a single bench of Judge Amarraj Poudel at Kathmandu District Court acquitted him of the charge.

The court has mentioned two major reasons for acquitting the former Speaker.

The verdict states the statements recorded during the investigation of the incident and later in the court, and analysis of the testimony of the victims and the victim’s clear statement that the defendants had not visited her in her room on the day of the incident took place are the bases for the clean chit.

Likewise, the verdict further states that the claim for the allegations were insufficient as the fingerprints, according to the report of the specialists, of Mahara did not match with fingerprints at glass and eyeglass that were claimed to have used during the time of the incident.
