Kulman Ghising’s reappointment under consideration: Minister Pun’s secretariat

KATHMANDU: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation has submitted a proposal for the reappointment of Kulman Ghising as the Managing Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA).

The proposal has reached the cabinet and is under consideration, according to Durga Prasad Chapagain, chief of the secretariat of Minister Barsaman Pun.

Posting a twitter message on social networking sites on Thursday, Chapagain said, “Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Barsaman Pun submitted a proposal for the reappointment of Kulman Ghising in the cabinet meeting on Monday in view of the people’s aspirations and demands. The proposal is under consideration in the cabinet.”

Ghising’s four-year term expired on Sunday. The Nepal Electricity Authority has already bid adieu to Ghising.

A large section of Nepali people have been demanding the reappointment of Ghising as the Managing Director of NEA due to his extraordinary performance during his tenure.

He earned popularity among the people in general after he ended the 18-hour-long load-shedding, reduced loss of electricity from 25.78 percent down to 15.27 percent and made the authority as one of the most profit-making institutes of Nepal.
