KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli and Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba on Monday discussed appointments to the vacant posts in the constitutional bodies.

A statement issued by NC Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Poudel after the meeting said that Prime Minister Oli and Deuba discussed the appointments to vacant posts in the constitutional bodies, the damage caused by the Sindhupalchok landslide and the coronavirus pandemic.

As many as 39 posts in 13 constitutional bodies are lying vacant and the main opposition NC have failed to reach a consensus on power-sharing.

During the discussion, Deuba had inquired about the government’s preparations to cope with the natural disasters and the coronavirus pandemic.

‘The death toll from the coronavirus has crossed 100-mark. The government has failed to address growing challenges. Why is the government not serious about reviewing weaknesses and formulating new strategies and accelerating up work? Why is there delay in providing adequate isolation and ventilator?,” Deuba questioned the Prime Minister.

The statement added that Deuba also drew the attention of the Prime Minister to be serious in resolving the disputes at Tribhuvan University.
