Nepal Army conducts corona special training to health staffs

KATHMANDU: With the alarming number of coronavirus case increasement, Nepal Army has been providing training to the health staffs the measures to handle this pandemic. In addition to returnee migrant labors, the pandemic has spread to the security personnels and healthworkers lately.

The latest data reveal Nepal has got 276 verified cases of coronavirus so far. With the increase in the span of test, the number of infection seems climbing rapidly. Realizing the gravity of the situation and also to make the battle against the coronavirus more effective, NA has started training the health staffs.

According to Birendra Military Hospital Chhauni, NA has been providing the training to its staffs who lead the battle against coronavirus. The training modules include the measures as prescribed by World Health Organization.

“We have been providing training to the health-workers since the pandemic outbreak, however, now we have expanded the training to the manager, sanitation workers and security personnel as well,” the hospital sources said, “ the training includes the precaution, preventive measures, handling the infected cases and the treatment along with the counseling to the family and the community.”

The training includes lessons on hand washing, social distancing, donning and doffing of PPE, sample collection, disinfection and mortuary management.

Lt. Colonel Dr. Mun Thapa thinks such training of prime importance as it equips the concerned people with the knowledge required to curb the pandemic. According to her, more than 1200 people have completed the training course.

“In addition to the health workers the lab technician, sweeper, plumber, electrician, administrator and security personnel are included in the training,” Lt. Col. Thapa said, “we have tried to make the training more practical and useful in the field.”
