BIRATNAGAR: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has made his party’s stance clear on the widely-debated Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) agreement saying that it should be endorsed from the Parliament at the earliest.

“It should not be delayed in any pretext,” he told journalists at the Biratnagar Airport on Wednesday, adding that it would be advantageous for a country like Nepal.

Likewise, he also asserted his party’s commitment of fielding its candidate for the Speaker’s election if the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) fails to pick from its party.

He also urged the ruling NCP to resolve the issue at the earliest as the meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) has been put off repeatedly due to the failure to pick a candidate for the Speaker.

“The ruling part cannot hold the Parliament hostage,” he said. Deuba said this as the ruling NCP has failed to pick a candidate for the position of the Speaker.

In another context, NC President Deuba ruled out the possibility of rescheduling the dates for the next general convention.
