Wellness tourism campaign launched in Lumbini

LUMBINI: A campaign to promote wellness tourism alongside religious tourism has been launched in Lumbini Province, with the aim of extending the stay of domestic and international tourists visiting the birthplace of Gautam Buddha.

Private-sector wellness company Tranquility Spa recently held discussions with tourism entrepreneurs in Bhairahawa on promoting wellness tourism in the province with Lumbini as its focal point.

Nabin Thapa, regional director of Tranquility Spa for Lumbini Province, briefed tourism entrepreneurs about wellness tourism packages that include yoga, meditation, massage, hydrotherapy, steam baths, body scrubs, fitness and other wellness services.

Chandraprakash Shrestha, president of the Lumbini Province Hotel Association, stressed the need to focus on marketing wellness tourism in the province.

Chandra Thapa, a member of the Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA), said Nepal could extend tourists’ stays by integrating wellness tourism services into regular tourism packages.

The campaign aims to complement Lumbini’s religious tourism potential with wellness experiences and encourage visitors to spend more time in the region.
