KATHMANDU: The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has appointed leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane as the new captain of Nepal’s men’s ODI team, replacing Rohit Paudel.
Lamichhane will lead Nepal at the upcoming ACC Premier Cup, scheduled to begin in Malaysia on August 30.
The decision comes after Nepal’s disappointing performance in the recently concluded ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 in the Netherlands.
With the change, Paudel has lost the captaincy of both Nepal’s ODI and T20I teams. CAN had previously handed the T20I captaincy to Dipendra Singh Airee.
Lamichhane, who had lost the national team captaincy in 2022 amid a legal dispute, returns to the leadership role after a four-year gap.
