KATHMANDU: Armed Police Force (APF) is establishing a security base camp with ‘Level A’ hospital at Kalapani, a disputed Nepal-India border area.
APF is preparing to establish the security base camp at the disputed border area which is inaccessible by roads nor is there any presence of the government so far.
Meanwhile, the government has started preparing Detailed Project Report (DPR) to open a track from Dumlling to Chharung of Byas rural municipality.
With the decision to handover a piece of land located at Gama of Byas rural municipality-1 to APF, the security agency is set to establish the security base camp equipped with a hospital, APF, headquarters, Halchowk said.
APF has initiated its work after the Cabinet meeting on December 9 approved the proposal to register the land in the name of APF for installing a Border Observation Post (BPO).
The government has already allocated Rs 10 million to this effect. Additional Rs 120 million will be allocated soon.
APF has got a go-ahead to establish a BPO in the difference of 15 to 20 kilometers while the distance between Ilam to Kanchanpur of Nepal is 1,800 kilometers.
