Transportation resumes after Bailey bridge is built over Sunkoshi

GAIGHAT: Transportation has resumed from Sunday on the route linking Gaighat in Udayapur district to Diktel in Khotang district after a Bailey bridge came into operation over Sunkoshi River that flows through Udayapur and Khotang districts.

The transportation service here was disrupted for nearly six months in lack of bridge over the river. Now the Bailey bridge is installed over the River, the locals could commute easily, said Himali Transportation Entrepreneur Association coordinator, Parmeshwor Ghimire.

The Bailey bridge was removed in May with the increase of water level in the River.

The Regmi Construction Company has been awarded a contract to build a Bailey bridge from the mid-November at the cost of Rs 8.5 million.

The Bailey bridge would measure 50 meters in length and 6 meters in width.
