COVID-19 test of insured persons to be deducted from coronavirus insurance



KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population has stated that in case of infection of the person insured for the COVID-19, the cost of testing and treatment of the coronavirus should be borne by the them.

The ministry has made the fifth amendment to the national testing guideline on coronavirus infection testing.

Speaking at the regular press briefing on Wednesday, Dr Jageshwor Gautam, Spokesperson at the Ministry informed that free coronavirus testing and treatment will be provided only to the financially deprived, disabled, helpless, single women, disabled, senior citizens, frontline health workers, security personnel and employees working in risk areas.

According to him, if any person who falls under the government’s free trial and treatment criteria has corona insurance, the cost of the test and treatment will be borne from the insurance amount.

He said the antigen test would be used for mass screening, for immediate reporting and people living in the group like Army’s battalion.
