Either implement clean feed from Oct 23 or face action: Govt

KATHMANDU: The government has instructed all the concerned organizations to compulsorily implement clean feed (without advertisements) policy starting October 23.

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has issued a press release stating that the advertisement-free broadcasting should be done by October 23 as per the provisions of the Advertising (Regulation) Act, 2019.

“As there is a provision to broadcast Clean Feed by October 23, 2020, all the concerned organizations have been requested to broadcast Clean Feed from the date stipulated as per the spirit and letter of the Act.” If any television channel is found broadcasting with advertisement, the concerned organization will face the action according to the prevailing law,” reads the statement issued the Ministry’s Joint Secretary Gokarnamani Duwadi.

The ministry in the press note has stated that the foreign television channels broadcasting in Nepal have to broadcast without advertisement (Clean Feed), pursuant to Section 6 (1) of the Advertising (Regulation) Act, 2019 from October 23.

President Bidhya Devi Bhandari had rectified the act on October 24 last year which is coming into effect from October 24 this year.
