Nepal’s COVID-19 death toll hits 100



KATHMANDU: Nepal’s death toll from COVID-19 has reached 100 on Friday evening after a man succumbed to the disease in Dhanusha.

A 50-year-old man of Janakandani Rural Municipality-4 died while being taken to Kathmandu, according to Province 2 Ministry of Social Development.

The man was first taken to the district hospital and then to the provincial hospital. He was then referred to Kathmandu for the lack of a ventilator.

Nine people have died of the coronavirus in Province 1, 43 in Province 2 and 18 in Bagmati Province, six in Gandaki Province, 12 in Province 5, four in Karnali Province and eight in Sudurpaschim Province so far.

Nepal’s death toll from coronavirus had reached 99 as of Friday afternoon after four deaths reported in the last 24 hours.

Speaking at a regular press briefing this afternoon, Spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population Dr. Jageshwor Gautam had said that one man each from Morang and Siraha and two men from Bara have died of the coronavirus.

Nepal had confirmed 594 fresh cases in the last 24 hours that had taken the national tally to 25,551.
