KATHMANDU: Lawmakers at the House of Representatives (HoR) on Monday demanded rescue of Nepalis stranded along the borders with India due to lockdown over coronavirus pandemic.
Speaking during the zero hour of the HoR today, lawmakers demanded the government rescued and quarantined the Nepalis stranded along the borders.
Nepali Congress (NC) lawmaker Amresh Kumar Singh said it is the government’s responsibility to rescue those stranded along the borders.
Ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Lawmaker Khem Prasad Lohani suggested the government to tighten the ongoing lockdown and to take initiatives in treating infected Nepali people around the globe.
NC lawmaker Gagan Thapa lambasted the government for failing to give attention to the plights of the people affected by lockdown.
Rastriya Janata Party’s Chanda Chaudhary and NC’s Uma Regmi demanded rescue of stranded Nepalis along the borders and in Indian cities.
NCP’s Khaga Raj Adhikari drew the attention of the government to frequent foreign interference in Nepal’s territory, asking all to unite for the defense of Nepal’s land.
He condemned the construction of the roads by India along Nepal’s territory in Lipulekh.
Lawmaker Ganesh Singh Thagunna demanded establishment of Armed Police Force camps at Paula in Darchula.
