China reports 17 new COVID-19 infection cases



KATHMANDU: China has reported 17 new cases, taking the total number of infection tally to 82,918, marking the highest daily increase since April 28 on Monday morning.

Of the new cases, seven were ‘imported’ cases involving travelers from overseas, international media reported.

Five of the new cases were reported in the central city of Wuhan, where the outbreak first emerged in December last year, marking the highest since March 11.

The total death toll has remained unchanged at 4,633.

Currently, 141 Coronavirus patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in  Wuhan City, of which nine are  critical, according to the latest figures collated by Worldometer.

A total of 78,144 have recovered from the novel virus.
