Govt directs closure of Nepal’s resort after death of 8 Indian tourists

KATHMANDU: The government has directed to close Everest Panaroma Resort based at Daman in Thaha Municipality in Makwanpur district.

The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation directed the resort to close all the operations for three months citing lack of adequate security and managerial arrangements.

Eight Indian tourists had died of asphyxiation in their room at the resort on January 21.

Nepal government had formed a five-member team to investigate and submit a report within 15 days into the death of the Indian tourists.
