NCP Karnali Province Parliamentary Party meeting on October 13

KATHMANDU: Chief whip of the ruling Nepal Communist Party’s (NCP) Karnali Provincial Assembly Gulaph Jung Shah has summoned a meeting of the parliamentary party’s meeting on October 13.

The meeting has been called at a time when as many as 18 lawmakers of the Karnali Provincial Assembly representing the ruling NCP registered a no-confidence motion against Chief Minister Mahendra Bahadur Shahi on Sunday.

The no-confidence motion is likely to be endorsed as the faction registering the no-confidence motion against the Chief Minister has a clear majority in the Assembly.

Lawmakers, including Deputy Speaker Pushpa Gharti Magar, Yam Lal Kandel, and NCP Chief Whip Shah registered the no-confidence motion against Shahi.

It may be recalled that 17 NCP leaders had earlier today submitted their signatures against Shahi to Chief Whip Shah.

This political development is likely to reach Kathmandu, observers say, as most of the lawmakers registering the no-confidence motion belong to the erstwhile CPN-UML party.

While 20 lawmakers in the 40-member provincial assembly are from the erstwhile UML party, 13 belong to the erstwhile Maoist party.
