KATHMANDU: The government has decided to lift ban on the import of foreign liquor imposed on March 29 to reduce trade deficit in Nepal.

The Council of Ministers has decided to open the foreign-produced liquor as per the proposal of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies.

According to government spokesperson and Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradip Gyawali, the decision to ban the foreign liquor was published in the Gazette on April 6 and the Council of Ministers has decided to open it by publishing another gazette.

Similarly, it has been decided to open the import of vehicles worth more than 50,000 US dollars to the people including the diplomatic missions.
