Indian and Chinese army at odds in Sikkim

Minor injuries on both sides

SIKKIM: Troops of Indian Army and Chinese People’s Liberation Army clashed at Nakula area along the Sino-Indo border of North Sikkim on Saturday.

Several of them sustained minor injuries, Indian media reports have said.

Around 150 soldiers were present when the confrontation took place, which was later resolved at the local level.

According to sources, both sides disengaged after dialogue.

“Troops resolve such issues mutually as per established protocols. Such an incident occurred after a long time,” said a source.

As there are many areas where the border is formally not settled between the two countries, the area has been seeing such face-offs quite often though this time it’s after a long time.

Generally such issues are mutually resolved at troops level.

The area is in the Sikkim sector along the Sino-Indo border, official sources said.
