COVID 19: Over 2,300 Nepalis infected in Qatar, 1,500 in USA



KATHMANDU: As many as 2,300 Nepalis have been infected with the COVID-19 in Qatar.

According to a record maintained by the Non-Nepalis Association Nepal, more than 5,472 Nepalis have been infected in 20 countries so far.

A latest data showed 1,500 Nepalis have been infected with coronavirus in the US, 1,000 in the UK, 245 in Bahrain, 141 in UAE, 78 in Kuwait, 49 in Malaysia, 30 in Saudi Arabia, 26 in Portugal, 22 in Ireland, 12 each in Spain and Australia, 10 each in Japan and Canada, 6 in Belgium, 5 in Switzerland, 4 each in Germany and Finland, 3 each in Cyprus and New Zealand, two each in the Maldives, Malta and Hong Kong, one each in Myanmar and France.

Similarly, one Nepali died in Sweden from the virus while one more has been infected in Finland, according to Chiran Sharma, Press Coordinator of NRNA.

Meanwhile, the death toll of Nepalis around the globe due to coronavirus has reached 78 so far.

According to the data provided by the Health Committee under the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), 51 Nepalis have died in the UK and 15 in the USA.

The committee said 12 people died in New York, two in Colorado and one in Virginia.

Similarly, six Nepalis have died in the UAE and one each in Ireland, Japan, Turkey, the Netherlands, Bahrain and Sweden due to coronavirus so far, Chairman at Health Committee Dr. Sanjeev Sapkota said.
