TU says exams will not be postponed

KATHMANDU: The Tribhuvan University (TU) informed that the scheduled exam will not be postponed due to  Covid-19 fear.

TU will administer the Bachelor level and the Master level examinations on a regular basis as no crisis has been observed due to the coronavirus, TU Office of the Controller of Examination (OCE)’s examination controller Pushpa Raj Joshi said.

According to him, the OCE has completed the preparations for examinations to be held under various faculties from March 20. “There is no need to suspend the examination in the present status of the coronavirus.

We will have to think if the situation calls for declaring an emergency in the country owing to the coronavirus threat,” he added.

TU vice-chancellor Dharma Kanta Baskota had also consulted with Minister for Health and Population, Bhanubhakta Dhakal, regarding going ahead with the examinations.

The Health Minister is learned to have asked TU to continue with the examinations as usual as there was no such situation at present to postpone the examinations.

The Master level first year compartmental examinations are scheduled from March 20, the Master level fourth semester examinations are slated from March 21, the Master level second semester examinations are to be held starting from April 4, the one-year B Ed examinations under the Faculty of Education are starting from March 23 and the Bachelor level second year examinations under the Faculty of Law are starting from March 27.
