KATHMANDU: As many as 2,672 persons have been infected with COVID-19 in the Kathmandu Valley in the last 24 hours.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 2,100 persons in Kathmandu, 203 in Bhaktapur and 369 in Lalitpur have been tested positive for coronavirus.
Similarly, six persons including a woman have died of coronavirus in the Valley in the last 24 hours.
Two men aged 48 and 90 years and a 68-year-old woman in Kathmandu, two men aged 43 and 49 years in Lalitpur, and a 68-year-old man in Bhaktapur died of the coronavirus.
Meanwhile, a total of 5,008 new cases of coronavirus infection have been found in the past 24 hours in the highest single-day spike.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, with the recent data, the total number of cases reached 105,684 in the country as of Saturday afternoon.
Ministry’s Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor said that altogether 19,320 sample tests were conducted across the country in the past 24 hours.
According to Dr. Gautam, 1,229 individuals got discharged from the hospitals in the past 24 hours while the number of people winning the battle against the virus reached 74,252 in the country. Nepal’s recovery rate stands at 70.2 percent, he added.
Nepal currently has 30,818 active cases, he said.
