Eight local units in Baitadi at high risk of landslide



BAITADI: Eight local levels of Baitadi district in Sudurpachim state are at high risk of landslide.

According to the Disaster Preparedness and Response Plan prepared by the District Disaster Management Committee, the local levels at high risk of disaster are Melauli municipality, Dogadakedar rural municipality, Purchaudi municipality, Sigas rural municipality, Shivanath rural municipality, Pancheshwor rural municipality, Dasharathchand municipality and Dilasaini rural municipality.

Assistant Chief District Officer (CDO), Lokendra Singh Negi, said although the rest of the local levels of the district also are at risk in view of several disasters, these eight local levels are at high risk of landslide.

Meanwhile, four out of the eight local levels at high risk of landslide in the district have not yet prepared their disaster management plan.

The Surnaya rural municipality, Patan municipality, Sigas rural municipality and Pancheshwor rural municipality have not formulated their local disaster management plan.
