PCN draws Press Council of India’s attention over malicious contents

KATHMANDU: Press Council Nepal (PCN) has noted its protest over the malicious contents disseminated by Indian Television channels against Nepal and Nepali people.

PCN acting chair Kishor Shrestha informed that Nepal’s press council took serious exception to the Press Council of India over the dissemination of unsubstantiated, inexcusable and baseless contents by some Indian media.

Likewise, the PCN has taken action against two online media of Nepal for the dissemination of provocative contents.

The PCN has shut the operation of ‘medianpo’ and ‘kuntipur.com’ for covering fake news stating the recent crash of an aircraft bound to Qatar from Nepal left 87 dead.

Likewise, the PCN has also forced to close the operation of ‘Himalayan Daily’ for continuously posting pornographic contents.

With this, the number of online news portal facing action for shutdown has reached 100, the PCN sources said.
