KANCHANPUR: The Federal Parliament’s Agriculture, Cooperative and Natural Resources Committee has started study on deforestation in the name of scientific forest management.

A team comprising committee members Shanta Chaudhari, Raj Bahadur Budhthapa and Satya Narayan Sharma Khanal are in Kanchanpur for the study.

The team has held discussion with stakeholders on the activities done by the community forest users’ group under the scientific forest management.

The committee took the initiative after the forest management by the users’ group drew widespread criticisms.

The committee members will prepare a report after completing the study and monitoring of the scientific forest management program run by the community forest users’ groups, according to lawmaker Chaudhary.
